Lumber Glossary
B.F. = Board foot (figured on unsurfaced lumber). One board foot is 144 cubic inches. To calculate-- multiply length in inches by width in inches by thickness in inches and divide by 144.
Board Surfacing = Planing surface smooth. One side surfaced is S1S, two sides surfaced is S2S. Roughlumber means not yet surfaced. Lumber Grading = Graded according to National Hardwood Association (NHLA) rules. A.D. = Air Dried. Normally our area moisture equilibrates at 10-11°. K.D. = Kiln Dried. Dehumidifier Kiln…moisture content 6-7°. Green Lumber = Lumber not yet dry.
